Concert at Sea for Peace and Solidarity Set to Promote Awareness in West Philippine Sea

Quezon City: Organizers of the upcoming two-day "Concert at Sea for Peace and Solidarity" clarified on Saturday that the event near Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea is not meant to provoke further tension.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ed dela Torre, president of the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (PRRM), stated that the concerts scheduled for May 26 in El Nido and May 28 near Pag-asa Island aim to promote awareness among Filipinos and neighboring countries about the ongoing issues in the region. "We are hoping that there will be no distractions and it (event) will add to the interest of the people," he said at the Saturday News Forum in Quezon City.

The group is closely collaborating with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to ensure the safety of participants. Performers will include a mix of Filipino and international artists such as Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dancel, and musicians from Japan and Indonesia.

The El Nido concert will occur from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 26, while the Pag-asa Island concert will take place during the daytime on May 28. Both events will be livestreamed on Facebook.
