Manila: The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday announced that Russian YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has been transferred to the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado stated that Zdorovetskiy was moved on June 11 due to local legal issues he faces in the Philippines.
According to Philippines News Agency, Zdorovetskiy sought temporary release through bail, which has not been granted. Viado emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of immigration laws, noting that foreign nationals who violate these laws must face the consequences.
The BI has made it clear that no special treatment will be accorded to Zdorovetskiy, who will stay in BJMP custody until his court cases are resolved. Upon resolution, he will be returned to the BI for deportation. Zdorovetskiy, in documents submitted to the BI, pledged not to evade deportation and promised to remain within the National Capital Region.
Commissioner Viado reiterated that foreign nationals disrupting public order are subject to deportation under Philippine law. The BI supports the Marcos administration's efforts to enhance border security and law enforcement, ensuring swift processing and removal of violators as necessary.
Zdorovetskiy was detained by Philippine authorities in April following a series of stunts for his YouTube channel that contravened local laws.
