Cops Uproot P2.2-M Marijuana Plants in Agusan Sur

Agusan del sur: The Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (ADSPPO) destroyed 11,000 marijuana plants during a Thursday operation in the mountainous area of Barangay Kasapa 1 in Loreto town.

According to Philippines News Agency, ADSPPO Director Col. Yahya Bustamante Yusup stated that the uprooted marijuana plants in upland Sitio Bagtok of the village have an estimated value of more than PHP2.2 million. Authorities also destroyed approximately 300 seedlings of marijuana at the site, which covered an area of 15,000 square meters.

The operation was supported by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and other police units in the province. Based on gathered information, the marijuana plantation was cultivated by an individual known only as alias 'Gusion,' a local farmer who currently remains at large.

Yusup emphasized that the successful conduct of this operation reflects the sustained commitment to combat illegal drugs and ensure the safety and security of communities. He also acknowledged the strong support from local communities that led to the discovery and eradication of the marijuana plantation.
