Baguio city: Minimum wage earners and domestic helpers, known locally as "kasambahay," in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) will soon benefit from a salary increase of PHP35 and PHP600, respectively, set to take effect before the end of the month.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - CAR sanctioned the wage increase through Wage Order No. CAR-24. This order raises the minimum wage in the region from PHP470 to PHP505, impacting all minimum wage earners in the private sector, regardless of their job position, designation, employment status, or wage payment method.
In addition, domestic workers in the region will see their previous PHP6,000 monthly minimum wage increase by PHP600. This adjustment applies to all domestic workers, whether they live in or out, and includes roles such as general househelp, nannies, cooks, gardeners, laundry persons, and anyone performing regular domestic work in a household on an occupational basis.
The decision to increase wages was approved in Baguio City on December 2, 2025, but it was only announced to the public on Sunday, December 14, and will be effective starting December 30, 2025.
