Cotabato: The Aboitiz-owned Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) announced a reduction in its overall residential rate, revealing a drop of PHP0.0347 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for bills issued between May 18, 2026, and June 17, 2026. This adjustment brings the new rate down to PHP9.6748/kWh from the previous month's rate of PHP9.7095/kWh.
According to Philippines News Agency, Cotabato Light spokesperson Doreen Almirante stated that the decrease is primarily attributed to a reduction in the transmission rate by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP). Furthermore, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has ordered a temporary suspension of the PHP0.0371/kWh Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) collection for the billing periods of May and June 2026.
Almirante also emphasized the volatility of market prices, suggesting that monthly changes in power rates are to be anticipated. Despite the current rate reduction, she encouraged customers to practice efficient and wise energy consumption to prevent high electricity bills.
