Pasay: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday confirmed that a court has allowed former broadcaster Jay Sonza to post bail for his temporary liberty over allegations that he spread false medical information about President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
According to Philippines News Agency, NBI Director Melvin Matibag stated that the Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 118 has ordered Sonza's release from the NBI Detention Facility at the New Bilibid Prisons Compound in Muntinlupa City. This order came after the payment of a PHP10,000 cash bond.
Sonza was arrested by the NBI in Quezon City last Thursday. The charges against him include unlawful means of publication under the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
Pasay RTC Judge Rowena Nievesa-Tan has scheduled Sonza's arraignment and pre-trial for June 3.
