DA-11 Kadiwa on Wheels Launches in Quezon City with Davao Fruits

Quezon city: The Department of Agriculture in Davao Region (DA-11) has announced the launch of the "Kadiwa on Wheels," a mobile fruit display showcasing the region's agricultural produce, at its main office in Quezon City. The initiative commenced on Tuesday, marking the beginning of its journey across Metro Manila.

According to Philippines News Agency, the display features an array of fruits from Davao, including durian, mangosteen, and pomelo. The "Kadiwa on Wheels" initiative is designed to bring these harvests closer to consumers in the capital and across the nation, while also expanding market opportunities for the farmers involved.

The central office of the Department of Agriculture will host the first sales event until September 3. This will be followed by another event at Kartilya ng Katipunan near Manila city hall on September 4. The initiative will then move to Cebu City from September 10 to 16, Baguio City from September 25 to 28, and finally, the World Trade Center in Pasay City from October 8 to 10.

DA-11's Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division is spearheading efforts to strengthen market linkages, broaden consumer access, and create improved opportunities for the region's local growers. Among the participating farmer cooperatives and associations are the Davao City Durian Industry Development Council and the Durian Industry Association of Davao City.

The initiative has set a target of distributing 70 metric tons of produce throughout its run.
