DA-PhilRice Successfully Delivers Majority of Certified Seeds to Antique

Antique: The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) has achieved a significant milestone by delivering 95 percent of the 68,800 bags of certified seeds allocated for Antique for the upcoming wet season.

According to Philippines News Agency, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Rice Program coordinator Hanna Lindo stated in an interview that as of May 28, 65,055 bags of certified inbred rice seeds have been released to 18 municipalities. These distributions are part of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund Seed Component Program, with deliveries commencing in February for prepositioning ahead of the wet season.

Farmers are currently awaiting a sufficient water supply from the National Irrigation Administration to begin planting. Out of the 65,055 bags delivered, 50,663 have already been distributed to farmers.

The planting materials are set to benefit 10,909 farmers registered with the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, covering 8,751.06 hectares of rice farms throughout the province.
