Manila: The Department of Agriculture (DA) has distributed over PHP94.67 million to 40,722 rice and corn farmers in Antique as part of the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk (PAFF) program. Each recipient received PHP2,325 between April 16 and June 9.

According to Philippines News Agency, DA-Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer Sonie Guanco highlighted that the farmers were registered with the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and cultivated land measuring two hectares or less. He noted that the assistance was crucial in enabling farmers to purchase food and farm inputs amidst the ongoing energy crisis.

Guanco also mentioned that the initial target was to reach 50,749 farmers, but only 40,722 were able to claim their aid. Those who missed the scheduled payout in their municipalities would have another opportunity to receive their cash grant later in the year.
