Davao and CDO Golfers Shine in ICTSI Del Monte Junior Championship

Bukidnon: Davao's Kimberly Baroquillo emerged victorious in the girls' 11-14 category at the ICTSI Del Monte Junior PGT Championship, showcasing her impressive skills in Bukidnon. Baroquillo delivered a stunning performance, achieving a hole-in-one on the 12th hole and firing a consecutive 73 for a total score of 146. This placed her four strokes ahead of Mactan leg winner Britanny Tamayo, who finished with a 150. CDO's Isabella Espina secured the third position with a score of 168.

According to Philippines News Agency, Baroquillo, who used a TaylorMade 7-iron to ace the 147-yard No. 12, defied her caddie's advice to hit the ball straight, instead aiming for the right side. Her ball landed as planned and rolled directly into the hole, earning her a certificate and PHP10,000 in cash from Del Monte Golf Club. Baroquillo, a 13-year-old South Pacific mainstay and student of Homeschool Global, expressed immense satisfaction with her first JPGT title, attributing her success to intense training over the past few months.

In the girls' 7-10 division, also played over 36 holes, Davao's Soleil Molde claimed victory. The eight-year-old Molde carded a 79 for a total score of 156, outplaying Clarin Qui±o, who finished with a 163, and Francesca Geroy, who secured third place with a 164. Molde, who trained at Apo Golf, reflected on the challenges she faced, emphasizing the support and learning experiences that contributed to her win.

Cagayan de Oro's golfers also made their mark in the tournament. Ken Guillermo triumphed in the boys' 11-14 category, firing a 73 to achieve a total score of 143. Marcus Due±as of Valencia finished second, edging out South Cotabato's Jared Saban after both tied at 150. Jamie Barnes, another CDO bet, excelled in the boys' 7-10 category, scoring a 69 for a total of 141. Mactan leg winner Ethan Lago claimed second place with a 146, while Lucas Revilleza secured third position after a countback, both finishing at 155.
