Davao City: The Fishery Division of the City Agriculturist's Office (CAgrO) issued 1,865 fishing licenses and registered 865 boats in 2024, an official said Tuesday. In a radio interview, Aimee Evora, head of CAgrO's fishery division, said their office would continue conducting onsite fishing license and boat registration this year and urged the fishermen to secure their licenses.
According to Philippines News Agency, Evora highlighted the scheduled onsite fishing licenses and boat registration events in different barangays during the current quarter. The initiative involves collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, Philippine Coast Guard, City Treasurer's Office (CTO), and Philippines Crops Insurance Corporation, creating a one-stop shop for the city's fisherfolk.
Starting January 28, the one-stop shop for fishing licenses and boat registration will be available at Barangay 76-A Bucana, in front of the barangay hall by the coast, with subsequent events planned until March 4.
Evora stated that fishermen must prepare specific requirements to obtain their licenses, including a cedula and a duly filled out fisherfolk registration form, with a fee of PHP50. For boat registration, necessary documents include a PNP maritime clearance certificate, a barangay certificate as proof of ownership, and a payment of PHP75 to the CTO for motorized boats or PHP50 for non-motorized boats.
Evora also emphasized that boat owners must be registered fisherfolk in the city to register their boats. She reminded the public that obtaining a fishing license and boat registration is mandatory for both commercial and recreational fishing.
