Davao City Intensifies Liquor and Smoking Ban Information Campaign

Davao city: The city's Vice Regulation Unit (VRU) is ramping up its efforts to spread awareness about the local liquor ban hours and anti-smoking ordinances. In a statement on Tuesday, VRU head Jacy Jay Francia highlighted plans to enhance the information campaign at key points of entry, including seaports, checkpoints, and the airport.

According to Philippines News Agency, the VRU intends to display infomercials at these entry points to emphasize the strict enforcement of the liquor ban, ensuring visitors are well-informed. Francia emphasized the ongoing efforts to apprehend violators of the liquor ban, noting that offenders could face a PHP3,000 fine for a first offense.

Additionally, in preparation for the upcoming Kadayawan Festival, the VRU plans to meet with the city's bar owners on July 30. This initiative aims to encourage bar owners to adhere to the smoking ban and liquor ban schedule, thereby demonstrating their support and commitment to the city's regulations.

Francia explained that the meeting will also serve to remind bar owners of the provisions of the city ordinance, noting that some establishments have been observed extending operations beyond the 1 a.m. cut-off time specified by the liquor ordinance. He further urged Dabawenyos to adhere to smoking regulations by using designated smoking areas.
