Davao City Police Seizes Over P1-M Illegal Drugs in Weeklong Ops

Davao City: Police here reported Monday the seizure of illegal drugs worth more than PHP1 million in buy-bust operations conducted from March 30 to April 5. Col. Hansel Marantan, acting Davao City police chief, said 30 anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 35 suspects and the confiscation of 166.7 grams of methamphetamine and 181 grams of marijuana.

According to Philippines News Agency, the methamphetamine is valued at PHP1 million, while the marijuana is worth PHP22,924, police said. 'The Davao City Police Office remains steadfast in its mission to protect the city and its residents,' Marantan said.

He added their intensified anti-gambling efforts resulted in the apprehension of 25 gamblers in 23 operations, with PHP6,333 in bet money confiscated and 23 cases filed. Additionally, the DCPO conducted 32 operations targeting wanted persons, leading to the arrest of 32 individuals, including nine most wanted persons.

Marantan further reported that 14 operations targeting loose firearms resulted in the apprehension of four individuals and the seizure of four illegal firearms. Authorities also recovered three firearms through surrender and seven through the 'Oplan Katok' safe-keeping program, and filed four related cases in court.

In total, the DCPO arrested 96 individuals during the weeklong operations.
