Davao del sur: The local government unit (LGU) of Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur hailed its recent recognition as the richest municipality in the Davao Region, describing the distinction as a testament to sound fiscal management, transparency, and responsible governance.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Commission on Audit (COA) released its 2024 Annual Financial Report on Local Government Units, naming the top 15 municipalities in the Davao Region with the highest total assets. Sta. Cruz topped the list with over PHP1.980 billion in assets, followed by Carmen, Davao del Norte (PHP1.973 billion), and Malita, Davao Occidental (PHP1.933 billion).
In a statement, the LGU emphasized that the recognition reflects not only its financial standing but also the collective effort of officials, employees, stakeholders, and residents who continue to place their trust in public service.
"This recognition goes beyond financial standing. It represents our capacity to deliver better services, strengthen local programs, and invest in sustainable development for our community," the LGU added.
Under Mayor Jose Nelson Sala's leadership, Sta. Cruz vowed to ensure efficient and equitable use of resources, guided by the principle that public funds must translate into meaningful impact for constituents.
The LGU dedicated the milestone to every Santa Cruzian, citing their trust, cooperation, and shared vision for progress as the driving force behind the municipality's achievements.
"With this milestone, Sta. Cruz remains committed to building a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and truly worthy of its people," the statement added.
