According to Philippines News Agency, in a statement Tuesday, DepEd-Region 8 extended condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and students of Anthony Pardilan, 36, head teacher of Naga Elementary School in Quinapondan District. He was found dead in Barangay Alang-Alang on Monday morning with stab wounds to the neck and back, according to the police.

"Mr. Pardilan dedicated his life to the noble profession of educating and guiding young learners, and his contributions to the school and community will always be remembered," the regional office said.

Authorities have arrested two suspects identified only by their aliases, "Joel," 22, and "Jeric," 18, both residents of Sta. Rita, Samar. The suspects reportedly admitted involvement in the crime. Initial investigation indicated the killing was motivated by money-related concerns, though authorities are still gathering evidence.

DepEd-Region 8 reiterated opposition to all forms of violence threatening the safety, dignity, and well-being of educators, personnel, learners, and communities. "We stand firm in our commitment to uphold a culture of peace, respect, and protection for all members of the education community," DepEd-8 said.

The DepEd Schools Division Office of Eastern Samar is coordinating with law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation. It also appealed to the public to respect the privacy of the bereaved family. "As we mourn the loss of a fellow educator, let us honor his memory by continuing his legacy of service, dedication, and commitment to the welfare of learners," the statement added.
