DepEd Initiates Command Centers to Tackle School Opening Challenges

Baguio City: The Department of Education in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd-CAR) has established assistance centers to tackle issues faced by learners and parents in anticipation of the school year commencing on June 16.

According to Philippines News Agency, Cyrille Gaye Miranda, head of the DepEd Regional Public Affairs Unit, shared that the Public Assistance Command Centers (PACCs) are being set up to address common concerns such as enrollment issues, the collection of enrollment and 'Brigada Eskwela' fees, lack of available slots, and school record problems. These centers are launched annually to coordinate efforts across different levels of the educational system before classes begin.

The PACCs function as hotlines to provide real-time information and respond to public inquiries. They are pivotal in resolving issues related to the school opening, offering central offices an immediate understanding of situations on the ground. This enables educational heads to swiftly propose solutions and recommendations for addressing concerns.

Miranda emphasized that PACCs enhance transparency, accountability, and responsiveness during the critical school opening period. The centers are a part of "Oplan Balik Eskwela," a flagship initiative of DepEd aimed at ensuring a smooth and organized start to the academic year.

Miranda further explained that the establishment of PACCs operationalizes the objectives of Oplan Balik Eskwela, ensuring all stakeholders have access to timely assistance and support, ultimately contributing to a more efficient school opening process.
