Manila: The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday launched the ARAL TutorKo platform to facilitate learning recovery efforts as part of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) program.
According to Philippines News Agency, the web-based tutoring management platform was developed in collaboration with Thames International Inc. and LearnTalk Limited. It aims to streamline the process of tutor application, onboarding, deployment, attendance monitoring, and session tracking, thereby enhancing efficiency in supporting ARAL program beneficiaries.
DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized that the platform will help organize and simplify the support system for tutors and schools. He noted the eagerness of many to assist children's learning while highlighting the necessity of a smooth and clear process for all involved.
The new platform will support targeted learning interventions for students needing assistance in foundational literacy and numeracy. Angara stated that ARAL TutorKo strengthens the tutoring system from application to deployment and monitoring, ensuring timely and appropriate support for more learners.
TutorKo is designed to facilitate real-time tracking of tutoring sessions, improve coordination among schools, divisions, regions, and the central office, and enhance data-driven decision-making with its dashboards and monitoring tools. Angara pointed out that each tutoring session offers a chance for a child to catch up, better understand lessons, and build confidence.
By the end of the school year 2025-2026, the platform aims to improve reading proficiency for 4.5 million learners out of the 6.7 million initially struggling, with the support of 442,906 ARAL tutors nationwide. Angara also stressed the importance of supporting tutors who dedicate their time and effort to the learning process.
The platform also simplifies tutor recruitment, screening, onboarding, lesson management, learner grouping, scheduling, attendance tracking, Daily Time Record (DTR) submission, and report generation. Additionally, it provides role-based access for administrators, coordinators, school heads, tutors, learners, and education officials.
