Iligan City: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) in partnership with the Iligan City government has allocated PHP1.7 million in financial aid to support 69 families impacted by Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami) in November 2024. This aid distribution took place on Thursday, aiming to provide relief to those whose homes were damaged by the storm.
According to Philippines News Agency, DHSUD-10 Director Ariel Abragan commended the local government for its swift response, particularly acknowledging Mayor Frederick Siao and the City Social Welfare and Development Office for their efficient identification of the beneficiaries. Abragan emphasized the importance of rapid action in the selection process to facilitate timely assistance.
The first batch of aid saw 52 families receiving PHP30,000 each for homes that were fully damaged. Additionally, 17 families whose homes were partially damaged were granted PHP10,000 each. The relief efforts also extended to 15 families who were affected by a recent fire, ensuring they too received necessary support.
Abragan noted that the distribution efforts are ongoing, with further verification of beneficiaries being conducted to ensure comprehensive aid delivery.
