Naga city: The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Tuesday vowed to sustain its housing gains under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized the agency's achievements in his State of the Nation Address (SONA). DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the Marcos' recognition reflected the collective efforts of national agencies, local government units, the private sector and communities in advancing the government's housing agenda.
According to Philippines News Agency, Aliling stated, "More than an affirmation of what we have accomplished, this inspires us to work even harder so that more Filipino families can finally achieve their dream of owning a safe, decent and affordable home." From July 2022 to June 2026, the administration facilitated the delivery of 575,693 housing units, or 51 percent of its recalibrated target of 1.13 million units by the end of the presidential term.
Of the total, 81,295 housing units were delivered through direct housing provision, 368,731 families received assistance through government housing financing programs, and 125,667 housing units were produced under the Expanded 4PH Program. Naga City Mayor Robredo earlier cited the DHSUD's role in helping local governments address growing housing demands brought about by rapid urbanization.
Robredo described the national housing strategy as an "aggressive" program aimed at providing shelter for families without homes during the Naga City Housing and Development Milestone Ceremony. Colliers Philippines Research Director Joey Roi Bondoc also highlighted the program's impact on the property sector during the Q1 2026 Philippine Property Market Briefing, saying government intervention through the Expanded 4PH Program has benefited the condominium market, particularly urban poor and low-income earners.
The housing sector also recorded higher public satisfaction, according to the latest Social Weather Stations survey, with its net satisfaction rating increasing from +38 in November 2025 to +45 in March 2026. Aliling said the DHSUD will continue working with key shelter agencies to expand housing opportunities and provide more Filipino families with access to decent and affordable homes.
