Baku:Northern Mindanao The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Northern Mindanao is working with local government units (LGUs) to enhance the efficiency of their Ease of Doing Business (EODB) systems.
According to Philippines News Agency, DILG-Northern Mindanao, through its Local Government Capability Development Division (LGCDD), has extended support to LGUs in Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon by conducting assessments and providing feedback. Additional assessments for other provinces are planned.
LGCDD Chief Hazel Occeña highlighted that these assessments focus on LGU compliance with EODB requirements, which include the establishment of a Committee on Anti-Red Tape, updating the Citizen's Charter, streamlining business and building permitting processes, and implementing accountability mechanisms. Occeña noted that one feature of the EODB system allows LGUs to renew business permits on the exact anniversary date of their issuance.
The Unified EODB Online Monitoring System, introduced under DILG Memorandum Circular 2025-094, is a digital platform used to track and consolidate LGU compliance reports. It encompasses the Business Permits and Licensing System, Building Permits and Certificates of Occupancy, energy regulatory reforms, and facilitates information sharing for financial businesses.
