Ilocos Norte Provides Cash Aid to Support Small Businesses

Baku:Ilocos Norte The provincial government of Ilocos Norte, through its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Office (MSMEO), is actively supporting small business growth by distributing a stimulus package aimed at improving the lives of local entrepreneurs and their families.

According to Philippines News Agency, a total of 111 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Ilocos Norte received PHP5,000 each, amounting to PHP555,000, as part of the final tranche of an ongoing livelihood assistance program. This initiative is designed to help small business owners and start-ups expand their operations this year. The same group of beneficiaries had previously received an initial PHP5,000 on July 24 to support their businesses amidst rising living costs.

Ronalyn Valdez, a sari-sari store owner from Sarrat town, expressed that the financial assistance has been crucial in sustaining her business, which has struggled due to a lack of capital. She expressed gratitude to the provincial government for its support, noting the increasing difficulty in maintaining a small sari-sari store. Similarly, Lilibeth Acosta, a snack vendor from Bacarra town, plans to use the aid to boost her business capital.

In 2025, MSMEO had supported 569 beneficiaries. Since its inception during the pandemic, the program has focused on aiding small-scale businesses involved in manufacturing, handicrafts, retail, and services, particularly those owned by women, impoverished individuals, the elderly, and the physically challenged.

Potential applicants for the cash aid can apply at the Ilocos Norte MSME Incubation Center located on the second floor of La Tabacalera or through their local government coordinator.
