Dinagat Government Allocates PHP10.6 Million to Support 537 College Scholars

San jose: The provincial government of Dinagat Islands has taken a significant step to support education by releasing a scholarship fund aimed at ensuring the continued education of 537 college scholars. Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. personally handed over more than PHP10.6 million to the management of Don Jose Ecleo Memorial College (DJEMC) during a ceremony in the province's capital. According to Philippines News Agency, the funding will address the billing requirements of the Provincial Government Scholarship Program for the first semester of the School Year 2025-2026. Governor Demerey emphasized that the 537 scholars are enrolled in various degree programs at DJEMC, such as Business Administration, Information Technology, Education, Criminology, Liberal Arts, and Tourism Management. Governor Demerey highlighted the importance of sustaining the scholarship program, which allows more students from Dinagat Islands to continue their education despite financial challenges. He stated that the initiative ensures e ducation remains accessible to deserving scholars throughout the province. In a separate statement, DJEMC management praised the provincial government for maintaining the scholarship program, which significantly benefits the youth in the island province. The college management expressed that by offering comprehensive scholarship grants to students across different programs and year levels, the provincial government has alleviated financial concerns, thus enabling learners to fully focus on their studies and self-improvement.
