Dinagat islands: The Dinagat Islands provincial government has ended its four-day workweek and directed employees to resume their regular weekly schedule starting Thursday. Governor Nilo Demerey issued Executive Order (EO) 07-01 on Wednesday, lifting the implementation of the compressed four-day workweek in the province.
According to Philippines News Agency, on March 14, Demerey issued EO 03-03, series of 2026, in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s energy conservation initiatives, as embodied in Memorandum Circular 114 dated March 6. Under the new order, all offices, departments, divisions, and instrumentalities of the provincial government shall resume the regular five-day workweek in accordance with existing Civil Service Commission rules and regulations.
The governor emphasized that despite the return to a five-day workweek, the energy conservation measures outlined in EO 03-03 would remain in full force within the provincial government. These measures include prudent electricity usage, adherence to previously issued energy-saving guidelines for devices and equipment, and limiting official travel to essential activities.
Governor Demerey noted that reopening provincial government offices five days a week would provide residents with more opportunities to conduct transactions and reduce delays in processing documents and permits, as well as in providing assistance. He added that regular schedules would enable smoother interdepartmental communication and faster provincial government responses to urgent matters.
