Dinagat Town Receives PHP2.5 Million Lobster Production Facility

Dinagat Islands: The Department of Trade and Industry in Dinagat Islands (DTI-Dinagat) has handed over a PHP2.5 million Mobile Mariculture Platform to the municipality of Cagdianao. This initiative is designed to bolster local lobster production, specifically benefiting the fisherfolk in the area.

According to Philippines News Agency, the platform was provided through DTI's Shared Service Facility (SSF) program and is expected to significantly aid the Dabus Fisherfolk Association. Richelle Joy Malawi, a trade specialist at DTI-Dinagat, explained in an interview that the SSF project includes two platforms, each equipped with four modules. These modules have the capacity to accommodate approximately 120 juvenile lobsters each, which will enhance local production capabilities.

The turnover of the project was supervised by DTI-Dinagat Provincial Director Elmer Natad and Cagdianao Mayor Marc Adelson Longos. During the event, Natad emphasized that the SSF aims to increase livelihood opportunities for the fisherfolk in Dinagat, underscoring the project's significance in supporting the local economy.
