Virac: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has mandated the urgent repair of a damaged section of the seawall on Imelda Boulevard in Virac, Catanduanes, following a strong storm surge during the passage of Super Typhoon Uwan, known internationally as Fung-wong.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH chief emphasized the necessity of installing hexapods on the seawall. These structures are intended to provide additional protection for residents living near the sea from the impact of strong waves. Dizon stated, "We need to add an element to the seawall that is not present in the damaged part [of the seawall] on Imelda Ave." He elaborated that the hexapods are large, jackstone-like concrete structures that are present in other parts of the seawall but absent in the affected section.

Dizon conducted an inspection of the damaged seawall with Catanduanes Governor Patrick Alain Azanza and officials from DPWH-Region 5 (Bicol). He highlighted that repairs would not be limited to the damaged section but would also extend to other parts of the seawall where hexapods would be installed.

There was no information provided regarding the project's timeline, including the start date and expected completion. Concurrently, Dizon reported that efforts to clear fallen trees and debris from major roads in the province are being expedited to ensure smooth traffic flow. Super Typhoon Uwan affected thousands of people when it hit the Bicol region and nearby provinces on November 9.
