Manila: Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon on Tuesday ordered the repair of potholed or damaged main roads leading to the Manila North Cemetery in time for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, on Nov. 1 and 2.
According to Philippines News Agency, among the streets that will be repaired are Blumentritt Road, Aurora Avenue, and Laong Laan and Dimasalang Streets. The department said this is part of the "Lakbay Alalay" Program for Undas 2025, in response to the President's directive to ensure a smooth and safe observance of Undas.
Dizon also directed regional and district engineering offices nationwide to immediately complete ongoing repair works under Operation Zero Potholes. He likewise ordered the installation of lane markings to ensure a safe and orderly traffic flow for travelers returning to their respective provinces and cemeteries.
Filipinos will observe the annual Undas events on Saturday and Sunday, visiting their dead family members, relatives, and friends in cemeteries and columbaria, where they will offer prayers and flowers, and light candles.
