Iloilo: Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon said all unfinished projects nationwide, including the Aganan Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo, will be completed as directed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Dizon, during his inspection of the flyover project on Monday, emphasized that while they wanted to finish it after being stalled for about five years, he also does not want to compromise safety.

According to Philippines News Agency, Dizon mentioned that there was an initial plan proposed last year, but he wanted to seek a second opinion, preferably from a foreign consultant, which will take one month. He stated, 'Once na okay na, then sisimulan na natin ang final construction (Once it's okay, then we will start the final construction),' in a media interview.

Dizon also instructed outgoing Regional Director Al Fruto to work on the approaches. He assured that there are no funding issues, with a budget of PHP229 million allocated for the construction. However, the focus remains on ensuring safety before restarting the construction, aiming for a start by mid-February.

He added that the commitment is to complete the flyover as a Christmas gift from President Marcos for the Ilonggos. The President has directed the completion of the project within the year.

The construction of the Aganan Flyover was suspended in 2022 after structural defects were noted at the nearby Ungka Flyover, raising concerns that the Aganan Flyover might face similar issues.
