Manila: The Department of National Defense (DND) on Wednesday denied claims it sustained a data breach over the weekend. A data breach is defined as an event that results in confidential, private, or protected information being exposed to a person or persons not authorized to see it.
According to Philippines News Agency, "contrary to a recent news report, the DND has not monitored any data breach over the weekend, and its systems remain secure and fully functional," DND spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arsenio Andolong said in a statement. No other details were provided for security reasons.
He stated that the DND, along with its bureaus, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, is implementing cybersecurity measures to prevent such incidents from happening. Andolong said they are exerting the necessary efforts to prevent "attempts by malign actors to illegally access our ICT (information and communications technology) systems and infrastructure."
