DOH Hospitals in NCR Gear Up for Super Typhoon Pepito.

Manila: The Department of Health (DOH) has taken proactive measures to ensure that hospitals in the National Capital Region (NCR) are fully prepared for the expected impact of Super Typhoon Pepito, internationally recognized as Man-yi. This preparation includes securing generator sets and power stations to maintain uninterrupted medical services. According to Philippines News Agency, the DOH Metro Manila Center for Health Development (CHD) has allocated PHP600,000 to support medical and public health needs. This funding has enabled the procurement of essential medicines, including antibiotics, treatments for skin issues, and medications for common ailments like coughs, colds, and hypertension. Additionally, the fund covers multivitamins, hygiene kits, other health emergency supplies, and food provisions. The Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital has mobilized its Philippine Emergency Assistance Team (PEMAT) for deployment. PEMAT is equipped to provide outpatient care and includes facilities for water, san itation, and hygiene (WASH), ready to serve areas impacted by natural disasters both domestically and internationally. To further enhance preparedness, barangay health centers, rural health units, and alternate command centers have been put on alert to assist typhoon victims. The DOH Metro Manila CHD also plans to conduct disease surveillance in evacuation centers to prevent potential outbreaks following the evacuation of residents in affected NCR areas.
