Laoac: The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday delivered a full range of health services to residents of Barangay Talogtog in Laoac, Pangasinan, through its one-day PuroKalusugan Medical Outreach Program.
According to Philippines News Agency, the activity served not only Talogtog but also residents from nearby barangays Casampagaan, Casanestibanan, Imanduyan, Calaoagan, Panagare, Banuar, and Maraboc. Community members received free health services such as X-ray examinations, oral health care, and pneumococcal vaccination for senior citizens.
Medical consultations, hearing and eye assessments, tooth extraction, and basic dental services were also provided with the support of the Region 1 Medical Center. DOH-Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco emphasized the importance of bringing health care closer to remote communities. 'PuroKalusugan stands as our promise that quality health services will reach even the most remote barangays in the region,' she said.
Sydiongco added that no Filipino should be left behind, and cooperation among government partners and stakeholders is important. The outreach was further bolstered by donated medical commodities and assistive devices, including wheelchairs for identified Persons with Disability, from DOH CALABARZON.
Residents welcomed the initiative, saying the program allowed them to access much-needed healthcare without the cost and difficulty of traveling to distant facilities. Through the PuroKalusugan Program, the DOH revitalizes primary health care in the community as health efforts are brought to the barangay level.
