Ilocos region: The Department of Health in Ilocos Region (DOH-1) reported 50 cases of stroke between December 21 and January 5, with no fatalities recorded during this period.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOH-1 data indicated that the most affected age group for stroke cases was individuals aged 60 to 64 years. Additionally, the agency identified 31 cases of acute coronary syndrome, predominantly affecting people aged 65 to 69, and 14 cases of bronchial asthma, primarily in the 55 to 59 age group.

The DOH emphasized the importance of avoiding overeating, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and stress to prevent acute coronary syndrome. They advised consulting a doctor immediately if there are symptoms of breathing difficulty or chest tightness.

To prevent strokes, the DOH recommended maintaining normal blood pressure and staying physically active, along with seeking immediate medical attention if numbness or body weakness occurs.

For asthma prevention, the agency highlighted the need to avoid triggers such as smoke and dust and to keep the surroundings clean.
