Manila: The "no work, no pay" policy will be in effect on Saturday, Nov. 1, as announced by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), declaring it an annual special non-working day.

According to Philippines News Agency, DOLE released an advisory stating that workers who do not report to work on this day will not receive their salary unless their company has a specific policy, practice, or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that grants payment for special days. Employees who choose to work on Nov. 1 are entitled to an additional 30 percent of their daily pay for the first eight hours of work.

The advisory further elaborates that employees working beyond the standard eight hours will earn an extra 30 percent of their hourly rate. Additionally, if Nov. 1 coincides with an employee's rest day and they choose to work, they will receive an additional 50 percent of their basic wage for the first eight hours.

DOLE also specified that any work exceeding eight hours on an employee's rest day will warrant an extra 30 percent of the hourly rate. The annual observance of Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, recognized as All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day respectively, is a time when Filipinos traditionally visit cemeteries and columbaria to honor their departed loved ones.
