DOTr Encourages European Investment in Philippine Transport Projects

Pasay City:The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has called on private firms from the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) to consider investing in the country's transport infrastructure. This appeal was made during the ECCP-ASEAN Transportation Forum 2026, held at the Manila Marriott Hotel, with the theme "From Roads to Runways Advancing Safety and Sustainability in Air and Land Transportation."

According to Philippines News Agency, Acting DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez emphasized the potential of public-private partnerships to enhance the Philippine transportation system. DOTr Undersecretary for Planning and Project Development Teodorico Delfin highlighted the importance of collaboration with partner countries and the business community to improve mobility and connectivity. He noted that partnerships with the ECCP and the European business community can enhance connectivity for Filipinos, improve efficiency in moving people and goods, and strengthen ties with ASEAN and beyond.

The forum showcased several major rail projects, including the Metro Manila Subway Project, North-South Commuter Railway, and Subic-Clark-Manila-Batangas Railway, which will connect key ports and economic centers in Luzon.
