Manila: The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to enhance the capacity of the creek adjacent to the Solis and Blumentritt Stations of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) as part of efforts to prevent flooding during ongoing construction.
According to Philippines News Agency, DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon emphasized the directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that government projects should not contribute to flooding. Dizon highlighted the importance of flood control following the President's detailed presentation on the subject. He stated that the creek's capacity will be doubled to ensure effective flood management.
In a recent inspection of the clearing operations at the Old Antipolo Road on August 12, Dizon was accompanied by Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno. This visit was part of the broader initiative to expedite the construction of the Solis and Blumentritt NSCR. Mayor Moreno expressed satisfaction with the development, noting that the expansion would improve the flow of floodwater from Blumentritt, Santa Cruz, and Tondo areas without incurring additional costs for Manila.
