Para±aque city: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) deployed its personnel and heavy equipment for the clearing operations of trash clogging the Redemptorist Water Channel in Brgy. Baclaran, Para±aque City.

According to Philippines News Agency, Secretary Vince Dizon, during his visit to the river on Tuesday, stated that the deployment of personnel and equipment was in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to conduct clearing operations. The President ordered the deployment of two backhoes, one backhoe loader, five dump trucks, and 50 DPWH personnel to conduct clearing operations and restore the proper flow of water in the river.

The massive accumulation of trash is obstructing the city's rivers and drainage systems, contributing to severe flooding and causing water levels to rise above a person's height. Secretary Dizon expressed alarm upon seeing trash clogging the water channel and asked the public to do their share by properly disposing of their garbage.

"We repeatedly call upon our LGUs and our fellow citizens to exercise greater discipline in waste disposal," Dizon said. "However, I believe we also truly need an overall master plan to address the garbage crisis. We need to put an end to this once and for all," the DPWH chief added.
