Manila: Pag-IBIG Fund posted a PHP41.35 billion profit in the first half of 2026, its highest first-half net income to date, as earnings from housing and short-term loans, investments, and other sources pushed its profit 24 percent higher compared to last year.
According to Philippines News Agency, Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees chair and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling stated that the agency's strong financial performance is expected to support the government's efforts in providing more affordable housing through the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (Expanded 4PH) Program. Aliling emphasized that the directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is to make homeownership more affordable and accessible to more Filipino families, highlighting Pag-IBIG Fund's crucial role in facilitating this progress.
The agency reported that the increased profit was achieved even as it reduced housing loan rates and increased the maximum borrowing amount for members to PHP10 million for a home. This financial growth was attributed to sustained earnings from housing and short-term loan portfolios, higher investment income, and disciplined cost management.
Pag-IBIG Fund's financial position strengthened, with total assets reaching PHP1.32 trillion as of June 30, 2026. This figure marks an increase of more than 6 percent, or PHP81.95 billion, compared to the PHP1.23 trillion recorded at the end of 2025.
Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta noted that the agency's gross income grew by 19 percent, or PHP8.58 billion, reaching PHP52.98 billion from PHP44.39 billion in the first half of 2025. Investment income from bonds, preferred shares, and time deposits also rose by 47 percent, or PHP2.18 billion, totaling PHP6.85 billion, and accounting for nearly 13 percent of the gross income.
Acosta underscored that the higher earnings benefit Pag-IBIG members, as a significant portion of the annual net income is returned to them through dividends on their savings. She highlighted the trust members place in Pag-IBIG Fund to safeguard and grow their savings, with voluntary savings from members forming more than half of the total savings collections in recent years.
The latest financial results come after the Commission on Audit issued Pag-IBIG Fund an unmodified opinion on its 2025 financial statements, marking the 14th consecutive year it has received the highest audit opinion. This opinion confirms that the financial statements fairly present the agency's financial position and operating results in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards.
