Manila: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has deployed its Disaster and Incident Management Teams (DIMT) to critical areas that will be hit by Super Typhoon Uwan.
According to Philippines News Agency, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon announced that 9,405 personnel and 1,603 pieces of equipment, including heavy machinery, have been dispatched to regions in Cagayan Valley and Albay for clearing operations and emergency repairs. "The President's order is that we must be proactive," Dizon stated. "Even before Super Typhoon Uwan hit, our quick response teams were already in place."
Dizon emphasized that DPWH personnel and equipment are on standby to assist local government units with preemptive clearing efforts until Uwan exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility. He noted that the teams are positioned to expedite the opening of roads to facilitate necessary rescue and relief operations.
Simultaneously, the DPWH continues to monitor major roads to provide real-time updates on all closures to ensure the safety of motorists.
