DSWD-11 Delivers P146-M Aid to Davao Quake Victims

Davao city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) has delivered PHP146.5 million worth of humanitarian and cash assistance to families affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao.

According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD-11 report highlighted that the quake impacted 46,919 families, translating to 155,965 individuals. Among these, 3,534 families, comprising 13,042 individuals, are currently housed in evacuation centers, while 3,086 families, covering 9,098 individuals, are sheltering outside.

Authorities documented damage to 15,962 houses, with 5,272 completely destroyed and 10,690 partially damaged. In Davao Occidental, the town of Jose Abad Santos reported the largest number of affected families, totaling 22,576. The town accommodates 2,886 families, or 10,724 persons, in 34 evacuation centers. Jose Abad Santos also recorded 5,674 damaged houses and received PHP69 million in aid, including food packs, tents, hygiene kits, sleeping kits, and cash assistance.

Sarangani province followed with 7,159 affected families and received PHP71.4 million in assistance, which included emergency cash transfers for nearly 6,000 beneficiaries. Other severely affected areas include Malita with 4,064 families, Sta. Maria with 1,734 families, and Don Marcelino with 1,134 families.

In Davao del Norte, Tagum City reported 9,026 affected families, with additional damage to residential houses in Kapalong, New Corella, and Carmen. Davao del Sur's Digos City reported 230 affected families, with PHP486,680 in aid distributed.

Davao Oriental's Banaybanay reported 498 affected families, with smaller numbers in Lupon and Mati City also affected.
