DSWD-2 Provides PHP90.1 Million Aid to 190,000 Calamity Victims in Cagayan Valley.

CAGAYAN: Humanitarian assistance worth PHP90.88 million has reached Cagayan Valley residents affected by the series of typhoons in recent weeks. According to Philippines News Agency, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 2 reported in a social media post that 195,260 families in the region were affected by Severe Tropical Storm Nika (international name Toraji), Typhoon Ofel (Usagi), and Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi) as of noontime Tuesday. The victims hail from 1,433 villages spread across the region's five provinces: Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya. Currently, 5,615 families, comprising 18,638 individuals, remain in evacuation centers. Meanwhile, 11,382 families or 42,468 individuals are staying in the houses of relatives or friends. As of 10 a.m., there are PHP84.29 million worth of food and non-food relief items along with PHP3 million in standby funds available, as stated by DSWD-Region 2. The regional office has distributed 143,551 family food packs, amounting to PHP87.82 million. In addition, non-food packs distributed reached 1,141, valued at PHP2.87 million. Furthermore, 2,111 pieces of bottled water worth PHP138,957 have been provided to the calamity victims. The department emphasized its ongoing coordination with local governments in the affected areas to ensure that all victims receive immediate support. The social media post conveyed this message in Filipino. In terms of housing damage, 554 homes were completely destroyed while 8,872 were partially damaged.
