Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released PHP45.88 million worth of humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Inday, an agency official reported on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, as of 6 a.m., the DSWD has distributed 54,902 family food packs, 1,732 non-food items, and 6,094 ready-to-eat food packs to affected communities. The Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) highlighted these figures in its latest update.

"Patuloy pa rin po ang DSWD sa pag-alalay sa iba't-ibang mga LGU para matugunan ang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan (The DSWD continues to give assistance to different local government units to address the needs of our countrymen)," stated DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao during an interview on IBC 13. Dumlao also noted that 134 evacuation centers are currently housing 4,338 families, or 17,794 individuals, who have been displaced by the weather disturbances.

The DSWD has also mobilized its field offices to deploy mobile command centers and mobile kitchens to bolster relief operations, maintaining coordination with local government units to offer ongoing support to affected families. The DROMIC report indicates that more than 150,000 families, or approximately 669,000 individuals, have been impacted by the recent weather events.

In a related development, the DSWD expressed appreciation for the results of the latest Tangere survey, which recognized Secretary Rex Gatchalian as one of the top-performing Cabinet members of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s administration. Dumlao remarked that the survey results would inspire the department to further strengthen, improve, and make its social welfare and development programs more inclusive.

Based on the Tangere survey, Secretary Gatchalian achieved a 48 percent national satisfaction rating, ranking first, and a 47.96 percent trust rating, placing second. The non-commissioned survey's field work was conducted from June 23 to 27, encompassing a sample size of 1,500 respondents nationwide.
