Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) released seed capital of PHP15,000 each to 16 beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program in Antique. This initiative aims to support individuals in improving their economic conditions by engaging in various livelihood activities.
According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Paolo Everardo Javier, alongside Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Antique team leader Noli Valenzuela, led the distribution of the seed capital during the regular flag-raising ceremony at Javier Freedom Park. The DSWD has allocated a total of PHP5.05 million to assist 340 beneficiaries across the province.
Valenzuela mentioned in an interview that the initial 16 beneficiaries from San Jose de Buenavista are pioneers in receiving the seed capital. These beneficiaries are planning to invest in ventures such as food vending, livestock raising, and trading. The initiative is expected to stimulate economic growth and provide sustainable income sources for those involved.
Other municipalities set to benefit from this program include Barbaza with 13 beneficiaries, Bugasong with 41, Hamtic with 33, Pandan with 36, Patnongon with 38, San Remigio with 15, Sebaste with 11, Sibalom with 22, Tibiao with 84, Tobias Fornier with 20, and Valderrama with 11. The release of seed capital for these areas is scheduled for July, marking a significant step in supporting the local communities' economic development.
