DSWD Distributes PHP10 Million in Aid to Typhoon-Affected Families in Camarines Sur

GARCHITORENA: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has provided crucial financial assistance to families impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami) and Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-Yi). Over the weekend, the agency disbursed PHP10 million through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) Program, aimed at aiding recovery efforts in the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the financial aid was distributed to 1,000 families in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur, one of the areas hit hardest by the recent typhoons. DSWD-Bicol Regional Director Norman Laurio confirmed that beneficiaries from the municipality's 24 barangays, including 10 coastal areas severely affected by storm surges, received the cash aid during a two-day distribution event at the town's covered court.

Laurio highlighted the agency's commitment to providing essential services during times of crisis, noting that the financial assistance is intended to help families meet basic needs, support home repairs, and restore livelihoods. The DSWD's efforts in the region underscore a focused approach to disaster relief, ensuring that affected individuals receive timely and effective support.
