Eastern visayas: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office in Eastern Visayas has strategically prepositioned relief resources valued at PHP142.26 million in anticipation of the continuous rains expected due to the shear line.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD stated on Monday that its regional office is on heightened alert and prepared to address potential flooding and landslides throughout the region. The pre-positioned relief assistance includes 164,832 family food packs, 11,973 ready-to-eat food packs, and 18,543 non-food items. Additionally, the agency has set aside PHP590,000 in a standby fund for emergency response.
The DSWD emphasized that the prepositioning of resources is a critical preparedness measure aimed at ensuring timely aid delivery to families impacted by emergencies. The agency is actively coordinating with local government units to facilitate the prompt and orderly distribution of relief assistance to communities that could be affected by continuous rainfall and the possibility of flooding or landslides.
The public has been advised by the agency to remain vigilant and adhere to advisories and instructions issued by relevant authorities to ensure safety amid the adverse weather conditions.
