Naga city: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has extended support to the family of two sisters who were murdered in Naga City earlier this week. DSWD Bicol Director Norman Laurio confirmed that the victims were a 27-year-old woman and her 25-year-old sister, with one having been a former monitored child under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Barangay Conception Peque±a, Naga City, Camarines Sur.
According to Philippines News Agency, a team from DSWD Bicol visited the victims' family home in San Fernando, Camarines Sur, to provide immediate psychosocial and material assistance. The agency also offered technical assistance to facilitate the release of funeral aid, aiming to alleviate the financial burden and burial costs for the grieving family.
Laurio stated, "The entire agency and the 4Ps community deeply mourn with our 4Ps household member from San Fernando following the loss of their children, one of whom was our former monitored child. We stand in solidarity with the public in their call for justice. The DSWD Bicol will continue to ensure that the family receives the necessary care and support during this painful situation."
