DSWD’s Cash-For-Work Program Aids 150 University Students in Antique

Antique: Students of the University of Antique have been tapped for the cash-for-work (CFW) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), providing 150 identified beneficiaries with temporary financial assistance. To formalize the initiative, an agreement was signed between DSWD Western Visayas, represented by Promotive Services Division chief Judith Barredo, and the University of Antique, represented by Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation Dr. Jelyn Alentajan and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Catherine Viesca on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, CFW focal person Social Welfare Officer III Felix Guillaran Jr., in an interview on Wednesday, said the program was opened to graduate school and college students of the university. Those in the graduate school will render work for 25 days and 50 days for college students. They were required to render work in partner local government units rather than with the university to spare them from additional expenses going to the school.

'The beneficiaries, who are being assigned in their respective local government units (LGUs), are being exposed to various office work such as clerical, documentation, and filing so that they could also improve their skills and knowledge,' Guillaran said. They will receive a daily wage of PHP550.
