DTI-11, DavOcc Gov’t Partner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Tourism Development

Davao city: The Department of Trade and Industry in the Davao Region (DTI-11) has announced its partnership with the provincial government of Davao Occidental to champion youth entrepreneurship and tourism development.

According to Philippines News Agency, Candido Limikid, program manager of the DTI-Davao Occidental Program Management Office (DTI-DOPMO), expressed gratitude to the provincial government for its efforts in crafting initiatives that promote entrepreneurship among young people. Limikid said the provincial local government unit (PLGU) highlighted the role of youth leadership and tourism in driving local development during the recent Provincial Linggo ng Kabataan 2025, held in Sarangani town. The event brought together more than 100 youth leaders from across the province for entrepreneurial workshops and tourism activities.

Limikid noted that linking entrepreneurship with tourism showcased the potential for youth-led enterprises to thrive in local communities. The sessions introduced the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, guided participants in developing business models, and encouraged innovative thinking. He added that by equipping young leaders with entrepreneurial skills, the activity directly supported the province's vision of building a resilient and opportunity-driven local economy.

Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Denzel Ray Danwata underscored the broader impact of the event. He stated that the Linggo ng Kabataan is not only a platform for youth engagement but also a catalyst for empowering young people to innovate, embrace entrepreneurship, and harness tourism as a driver of economic growth.
