Silang: Ronee Dungca made an impressive debut at the ICTSI Junior PGT Series, claiming the girls' 7-10 division title at the Riviera Golf Club, Inc. Dungca secured her victory with a 36-hole total of 153, following a solid opening-round 73 and a subsequent score of 80.
According to Philippines News Agency, Tyra Garingalao finished second with a 160 total, followed by Penelope Sy and Ziyu Liu, who both ended with 175. Dungca, a nine-year-old student from OB Montessori in Angeles, Pampanga, expressed her joy saying, "I feel good, happy. I feel a lot of things. But what I liked most was meeting new people and not getting a bad score." If Dungca wins the final two legs at Pradera Verde and Pinewoods, she could accumulate a maximum of 45 points, potentially securing a spot in the finals at The Country Club on Oct. 7-10.
In the boys' division, Zoji Edoc dominated the competition, winning by 12 strokes and earning a place in the finals. Edoc completed the tournament with a two-day total of 155. Asher Abad and Halo Pangilinan both scored 167, with Abad securing second place via countback, thanks to five consecutive pars. James Padron finished fourth with a total of 168. Edoc, who has previously won at Sherwood Hills and been a runner-up at Eagle Ridge and Splendido Taal, now leads the division rankings with 54 points.
Meanwhile, in the boys' 11-14 division, Zianbeau Edoc claimed his first JPGT title with back-to-back scores of 78, totaling 156. Race Manhit matched Zianbeau's final round score to finish with 163, securing runner-up honors in a countback against Jacob Casuga. Mona Sarines continued her impressive form in the girls' 11-14 division, winning her third title after previous victories at Splendido Taal and Caliraya Springs. She leads her division with 57 points, ahead of her twin sister Lisa, who holds 54 points.
