Eastern Samar Town Officially Declared Insurgency-Free

Maslog: The municipality of Maslog in Eastern Samar was formally declared under a Stable Internal Peace and Security Condition (SIPSC) as a result of the town's efforts to sustain peace, strengthen security, and promote inclusive development on Monday. The declaration coincided with the celebration of Maslog's 61st founding anniversary, underscoring the local government's commitment to preserving peace and fostering progress in the municipality.

According to Philippines News Agency, prior to the declaration, local officials and security sector representatives signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at sustaining peace and security gains in the town. The agreement was signed by Major Cesar Ballado Jr., executive officer of the Philippine Army 52nd Infantry Battalion, and Maslog Mayor Septemio Santiago. Witnessing the signing were Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office Director Police Colonel Ernesto Macasil, Department of the Interior and Local Government Eastern Samar representative Fineil Loste, and members of the Sangguniang Bayan and barangay officials.

The MOU reinforces the commitment of local government units, security forces, and other stakeholders to maintain peace and security, strengthen public confidence in government institutions, and support development initiatives in the municipality. In a message delivered during the event, Brig. Gen. Arlino Sendaydiego, commander of the Army's 801st Infantry Brigade, congratulated the people of Maslog for achieving the SIPS declaration, emphasizing that the milestone was made possible through the collective efforts and cooperation of the community.

Sendaydiego remarked, "This is your accomplishment. Nothing would have been achieved without the support and cooperation of the people," urging residents to remain united and resilient in preserving the peace attained in the municipality. He added the SIPSC declaration recognizes the hard-earned peace achieved through the collaborative efforts of government agencies, security forces, local stakeholders and the community.

Local officials expressed optimism that the declaration would further boost security, development, and economic progress in Maslog while ensuring the municipality remains prepared against future threats. The SIPSC declaration signifies that the municipality has met the criteria for a stable peace and security environment, paving the way for sustained development initiatives and improved delivery of government services.
