EDSA Rehabilitation Phase 2 Commences, Affecting Makati and Caloocan

Makati: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the initiation of the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), focusing on Makati City (Orense) and Caloocan City (Monumento).

According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH - National Capital Region detailed that the road work will include asphalt overlaying, concrete reblocking, and rotomilling, with an expected completion date of July 23. Asphalt overlaying is scheduled to occur from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday through Friday, and both asphalt overlaying and concrete reblocking will take place from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Friday through Monday.

The project will also incorporate 24/7 drainage and sidewalk improvement activities that are still part of Phase 1. The DPWH assured that only partial lane closures will occur in the work areas, allowing other lanes to remain open to traffic. Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid potential congestion.

The schedule for repair works on EDSA includes various dates for asphalt overlay and rotomilling. For asphalt overlay, southbound repairs will occur from July 20-23, affecting the Bus Lane from Monumento Circle to EDSA McDonald's Caloocan. The northbound repairs are scheduled for July 6-8 and July 16, affecting lanes from Guadalupe Bus Station to Avida Town Center.

Rotomilling will also impact both southbound and northbound lanes, with southbound work from July 6-7 and July 13-24, and northbound work from July 3-4, July 9, and July 13-15, covering sections from Guadalupe Bus Station to Avida Town Center.
