Tokyo: Mako Komuro, the eldest daughter of Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, has given birth to her first child, the Imperial Household Agency announced. The news marks a significant moment for the family, as the newborn is the first grandchild of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess.
According to Philippines News Agency, Naomasa Yoshida, the grand master of the Crown Prince's Household, shared the news during a regular press conference. While he did not reveal the baby's sex or date of birth, he mentioned that the Crown Prince and Crown Princess, along with their other children, Princess Kako and Prince Hisahito, are delighted about the birth and are wishing for the happiness of the Komuro family.
The timing of the announcement was influenced by media reports about the birth. Yoshida stated that since Mako has left the Imperial Family, there was a desire for her to enjoy this personal milestone in a quiet environment. However, the decision to announce was made due to external factors.
Mako, 33, who left the Imperial Family after marrying Kei Komuro, 33, in October 2021, moved to the United States the following month. The couple met as schoolmates at the International Christian University in Tokyo.
